Thomson Reuters Integrated Software Ticks all the Boxes for Accountants in Practice

12 December 2012

LONDON December 12,2012:– Digita, part of the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, today announced that Old Mill Accountants and Financial Planners have chosen the Digita Professional Suite to provide a fully integrated software environment. The Digita Professional Suite will help maximise efficiencies and make it easier to review and control client work across a network of five offices.

A reputable South West accountancy practice, Old Mill looks after the affairs of 5,000 clients and employs over 250 staff from five offices in Dorchester, Exeter, Melksham, Shepton Mallet and Yeovil. The order is for an integrated suite of solutions comprising; Accounts Production, Corporation Tax, Personal Tax, Trust Tax and Business Tax together with training for over 100 staff, a comprehensive data migration and bespoke development to connect the Digita Professional Suite with Old Mill’s other software systems.

Ian Carlson, partner, is responsible for a major programme of IT investment that will make it easier to offer clients outstanding service. He said:

"Old Mill was using a number of different products; some fairly old and none of them integrated with each other. They didn’t do what we wanted them to do and they didn’t enable us to offer the services we want to give our clients.

"We went out to the market and formed a working group to assess what was out there. Digita software from Thomson Reuters was rated highest. What we valued most was the interaction between our employees and the Digita team. We needed to know that the support is going to be there as and when we need it – we felt we would get that from the Digita team. We are impressed with the software and Digita ticked more boxes than anyone else. It was a people thing as much as anything."

The Digita team worked closely with Old Mill to plan the deployment and make the transition as straightforward as possible. There will be a phased implementation with training and migration for Digita Accounts Production, Corporation Tax and Practice Management taking place this year with the remaining tax solutions implemented in early 2013.

Built around a central database of client and contact information, the Digita Professional Suite provides an intuitive environment for all practices, from sole practitioners through mid-tier and to the Big Four. Digita is the only tax software to have won the Lexis Nexis Best Tax Software of the year award three times and to have all solutions certified by the Microsoft Corporation.
