Digita Tax Software from Thomson Reuters Increases Market Share, According to ICAEW Survey

12 January 2012

LONDON, January 12, 2012—The Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters today announced that its Digita tax software applications achieved high performance rankings and more than doubled market share, according to the latest IT in Accountancy Practices survey conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Here are Digita highlights from the survey of IT decision makers at approximately 800 accounting firms:

  • Digita Corporation Tax gained an overall score of 85 out of a maximum score of 100 and 92% of users said they would recommend the product to their peers. Its market share increased from 4% in 2007 (the last time the ICAEW surveyed its members) to 10%.
  • Digita Personal Tax gained an overall score of 87 with a recommendation rate of 96%. Its market share doubled from 7% to 14%.
  • This is the seventh time the ICAEW’s IT Faculty has carried out this research, which is considered to be an unbiased analysis of the views of ICAEW members regarding current IT issues and the products they use. Respondents are asked to rate their software in terms of performance, reliability, ease of use, initial service, ongoing support, business critical failure and whether they would recommend it to other accountants. The report highlights a significant gain in market share for Digita tax solutions since the business was acquired by Thomson Reuters early in 2008. In that time, Digita benefited from significant investment to ensure its solutions lead the field in terms of functionality. This is evidenced by renewable subscriptions which have increased by over 30% in the three consecutive years, 2009, 2010 and 2011.

"This study provides an invaluable benchmark of how our software is perceived and we are delighted that Digita tax solutions achieved such high scores,"
said Tom Walsh, SVP and managing director of the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters in EMEA.
"The strong recommendation rates for Digita Personal Tax and Digita Corporation Tax are a real testament to our team’s commitment to provide the best levels of service and support available in the accountancy software market."
