iXBRL Expert Panel Provides Practical Guidance to Ensure Trouble Free Transition

14 September 2010

EXMOUTH, September 14th 2010 – Digita, part of the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, is holding a free webcast for accountants in practice and in-house finance and tax teams on Tuesday 21 September at 10.00am GMT. The webcast will provide practical guidance on how to devise an iXBRL implementation plan and migration strategy that ensures a trouble-free transition.

An expert panel chaired by Anita Monteith, Tax Faculty Technical manager, Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), will discuss one of the greatest changes to impact tax and accounting since the introduction of Self Assessment; the mandatory filing and use of iXBRL. With an immoveable deadline of just five months away, this webcast is essential listening for those who need to be iXBRL compliant before March 31 2011.

The panel, comprising of three well known tax and accounting experts: Jerry Rihll, managing director of Digita and head of accounting firms in EMEA for the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, Nigel Harris, director of corporate and client services at Burton Sweet, and Max Thomas, product manager at Digita, will consider the wide range of options available and highlight why iXBRL strategies will need to accommodate the manual tagging necessary for exceptions where statutory accounts are currently provided in Word or Excel. It is clear that conversion tools will have an important role to play in the first few years of iXBRL as the profession gets to grips with manually tagging each set of accounts that has been produced off system or using non standard templates within accounts production software.

This is the second in a series of ‘Perfect Practice’ Master Classes, organised by Digita in association with AccountingWeb, designed to provide a thorough overview of highly topical subjects of interest to the accountancy profession and supported with a range of materials which include, white papers and guides.
