Exmouth firm raises £1,300 for cancer charity

EXMOUTH, July 2010 – Local businesses rallied round Exmouth financial software developer Digita, part of the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, when it staged a day of fundraising in support of Breast Cancer Care.

Digita raised £1,300 on Friday 16 July by holding a ‘Strawberry Tea’ in support of Breast Cancer Care. Cake and plant stalls, homemade baguettes, pies and pasties were all snapped up to raise funds alongside a prize draw and a ‘guess the weight of the cake’ competition with the highlight of the day being a sponsored head shave by Digita sales consultant Ashley Leeds which alone made over £850.

Dermot Hamblin, Digita head of sales said:

"We are extremely grateful to all the Digita staff who contributed their time and effort to this fundraising initiative. We would also like to thank the various local businesses who supported us on the day. These included: The Cupcake Dream, Moore’s Pies and Pasties,The Royal Beacon and Head Masters."

With nearly 46,000 people being diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK, Digita recognises the importance of helping such charities raise awareness and deliver funds to continue research into treatment and detection. This support was reiterated by Thomson Reuters financially matching the fund raising efforts.
