ICONS OF TECHNOLOGY

29 May 2009

QUIZ YOUR GREY MATTER THIS LUNCHTIME – FOR FUN – FOR CHARITY – FOR AN iPOD TOUCH

Financial software supplier Digita is challenging the accountancy profession with a unique competition to name 40 icons connected with the world of technology.

Digita is challenging visitors to their website to test their historical and technological memory both visually and cryptically through a Sgt. Pepper’s inspired image. The Icons of Technology competition closes on 30 June so to be in with a chance of winning entrants will need to correctly answer all 40 clues.

It’s not just about the fun – there is also the chance to make a real difference. As part of Thomson Reuters, Digita’s philosophy is to support a wide range of charities. The chosen charity for this competition is Farms for City Children. Founded in 1976 by writer Michael Morpurgo and his wife Clare, the charity offers children from disadvantaged backgrounds the chance to stay on one of their working farms.

Dermot Hamblin, Head of Sales for Thomson Reuters, Digita Software Division said:

"It is important to us that we engage with the profession on a number of levels and not just in sales or support situations.

"We see the competition as a means of connecting with practitioners in a way that will be rewarding and fun. In addition, this is an opportunity to raise money for a very worthwhile charity and we are asking that if entrants have enjoyed the competition, they consider making a donation before they leave the site. Digita has made an initial donation to kick start the competition."
