The 7th Digita Annual Conference held at the Forest of Arden Hotel near Coventry last week attracted an enthusiastic audience of accountants in practice and a surprise visit from Roy Martin, President and CEO of the Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting Division, the software firm’s parent company.

Managing Director Jerry Rihll’s keynote opening address delivered an upbeat and optimistic vision for the future focussing on Digita’s growth and progress since its acquisition by Thomson Reuters in early 2008 and the company’s immediate plans for software development and new product features in the forthcoming year.

Roy Martin also addressed the conference explaining how the global corporation was attracted to Digita because of shared culture, values and vision.

He said:

"We like businesses which the employees are happy to work for, where they are committed to their clients, where there is openness and transparency and where there is a feeling of passion about what they are doing.

"The fact that the founder of the business, Jerry Rihll, and his team are still running it demonstrates we are very happy with the way things are and the potential for going forward together.

"What we can and will bring to Digita is an ongoing investment commitment and access to a global technology resource that they can utilise as they think fit."

Delegates also listened to experts from HMRC, Companies House, leading industry figures, Digita product managers and participated in a range of break-out sessions and one-to-one meetings with Digita product specialists.

Jerry Rihll concluded:

"This is our best conference ever and not just because of the quality of speakers but because we attracted a record number of delegates, both customers and potential customers, from every level of practice from sole practitioners to top 10 firms; this confirms the wide appeal of our product range and endorses our software development strategy."
