Case Study - Simpson Forsyth
Based in Aberdeen, Simpson Forsyth is a 3 partner firm, with 25 staff providing a full range of audit, accountancy, taxation and corporate finance solutions. The firm has existed as Simpson Forsyth since 1990 and continues to expand even in the current climate servicing a wide range of clients across most sectors.
David Strachan is one of two Audit/Accounts partners and has in-house responsibility for the firm’s IT requirements.
He said: “We’ve used Digita Personal, Business and Trust Tax software, over a long period, probably more than 10 years and we have also used the P11D software for a number of years.
“We looked at a number of personal tax products before choosing the Digita product. What attracted us was that Digita seemed to be significantly ahead of the game in terms of the technology development at the time, but at a reasonable price.
“That has continued to be the case throughout our relationship, and at no stage have we even considered switching to another provider. That’s pretty rare in such a competitive market. In addition, software updates are easy to install, and we have had very few issues. Digita’s technical support has also been first class, on the relatively rare occasions when it’s required.”
Tax Manager, Wendy McKay added: “The personal tax software is very user friendly and easily understood by new members of staff. The initial input of the information is extremely straightforward and is helped greatly by tools such as the dividend data feed.
“The tracker tool provides ongoing monitoring of the progress of the Tax Return and relieves us of the need to keep separate records.
“Of particular use to me is the Client Review Tool and the attention it brings to any potential problems relating to the Tax Return, along with action that may be needed to areas outside of the Tax Return, such as national insurance.”
