Database Backup – SQL Server Express and Scheduled Backups

SQL Server Express (the freely available version of SQL Server 2005) no longer includes SQL Server Agent. The Digita Database Backup tool uses SQL Server Agent to run scheduled backups. Therefore, users of SQL Server Express will see a message when starting the backup tool and will be unable to run scheduled backups.
The scheduling functionality is still available within all other versions of SQL Server and we are currently investigating an alternative solution to re-instate the functionality for SQL Server Express users.
