Electronic Forms Technician

Purpose of the role - how it adds value

Responsible for maintenance and update of our Government Agency Facsimile Forms. Secondary responsibility of the production and maintenance of Digita's user assistance.


Main responsibilities of the job

  • Responsible for identifying changes to, creating and maintaining electronic duplicates of the Government Agency Facsimile Forms via in house Desktop Publishing package.
  • To ensure all forms are duplicated to the required standard.
  • Apply quality standards throughout all content.
  • Ensure all content is delivered on time and with minimal defects.
  • Take responsibility and show initiative in areas of own professional development and learning.
  • Be prepared to act as a mentor to other employees within the organisation and impart relevant knowledge.
  • Promote and establish a healthy and safe working environment, ensuring that health and safety policies are complied with.
  • Identify potential hazards in the work environment that have the potential to create a risk to other employees or visitors to the organisation.
  • The post-holder will work without supervision and may be expected to deal with other duties appropriate to level and post.

Secondary responsibilities of the job

From time to time, when there are no forms requiring reproduction, the role requires work as a technical author. Over time will involve the following responsibilities:

  • Responsible for creating concise and technically correct user assistance content.
  • To ensure all user assistance content is written in Plain English.
  • Apply quality standards and house style throughout all content.
  • Ensure all content is delivered on time and with minimal defects.

Experience: relevant experience for the role

  • Relevant technical qualification (desirable).
  • English and Maths qualifications.
  • Experience of designing, creating or replicating paper-based forms electronically (desirable).

Optional authoring experience

  • Technical authoring experience.
  • Experience with a variety of help authoring packages.
  • Experience linking help topics to application dialogs.

Other Significant Role Requirements: Any other factors which have a bearing on a candidate’s ability to perform

Forms Technical Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Desktop Publishing software such as Microsoft Publisher (desirable), CAD software or other form production software
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows.
  • Knowledge of source control such as Microsoft SourceSafe (desirable).

Optional Authoring Technical Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Madcap Flare (desirable)
